Crown Rot
Crown rot is caused by hydrogen sulfide gas, produced in the septic tank, that combines with air at the top of the tank forming an acid. This acid eats away at the concrete and can cause the septic lids and top to collapse.
The lid on the left is normal, the one on the right is completely destroyed and stepping on it could cause it to break trough causing injury.
